About Us

We are the Feminist Equal Rights Alliance, also known as FERA. Recently, we rebranded our club and changed our name from “UN Women University of Toronto''. We wanted to stray away from the rituals of bureaucratic work that comes with being a part of a large institution and focus more on giving back to our community while empowering our peers.

We work to facilitate engagement with feminist dialogue on campus and represent women and other gender minorities. In 2021, we were awarded the University of Toronto Students' Union Outstanding Club of the Year Award for our efforts.

Our Mission

We aim to promote feminist dialogue in our community through a variety of different platforms that can allow our members to feel empowered and seen. Our mission is to ensure the University of Toronto is an inclusive and equitable institution for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, sexual expression, race, religion, (dis)ability, nationality, etc.

Monthly Blogs

We use this website to share our monthly blogs, each focusing on a different topic to keep our audience engaged and informed throughout the year. In addition to our regular posts, we publish 16 special blogs annually as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign. We welcome anyone who wants to submit a blog post and encourage you to check our Instagram for details on upcoming topics and submission guidelines.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a worldwide campaign that takes place annually from November 25th to December 10th, is a time to reflect on violence against women and take preventative action to raise awareness and put an end to it. We're pleased to announce FERA's article series spanning all 16 days, where each post calls for viewers to listen, educate and speak out against any form of violence by highlighting the complexities of gender-based violence that have gone unnoticed by many for so long. Follow along for these 16 days to learn more about how you can educate yourself and others so we can end these atrocities.
